About the Event
Kol sana we entou tayebeen! Things are still weird this year. I’m over here making French petit fours topped with primrose and violas for eid, which are def not the Egyptian petit four, though they do have some similarities. This one is an almond cake with a jam layer and the traditional Egyptian one is essentially the same but a butter cookie is used in place of the cake...
Christmas is tomorrow, and it’s celebrated on January 7 by many in the Orthodox tradition. The reason for this is because days were removed to make up for the difference with the Julian calendar when England switched to the Gregorian calendar in 1752. Our people did not accept the change and continue to use the Julian calendar...
Our existence is so complex...let’s eat sugar, discuss, and spend time together for eid!
PS--I'll send out a Zoom link an hour before the event.
